2D Director Map
Every director in your archive, plotted on a two-dimensional field. Axes are cinephile-defined — formal vs vernacular on one, chamber vs spectacle on the other — and clusters surface naturally as you mark more films watched.
Why a map, not a list
A list of directors orders by some metric (count, average grade) and flattens difference. The map preserves it. Two directors with similar grades but very different temperaments end up on opposite sides of the same axis. Your "favorite directors" stop being a flat ten and become a spatial neighborhood.
Coverage as terrain
Empty corners of the map are visible — directors you haven't given attention to are the white space. The map makes the structure of your inattention legible, not just your enthusiasm.
